arvenstone.comEditorial Index

About this index

arvenstone.com is an independent editorial index of hotels, written and maintained by a small group of people who read about buildings more than they travel to them.

The site covers four categories — art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — and nothing else. That narrowness is intentional. Each of the four represents a different reason to stay somewhere, and describing them side by side is more useful than another undifferentiated list of places to sleep.

How entries are written

Every entry is prose. We do not publish specification tables, key-value grids, scores or star ratings, and we do not collect or republish guest reviews. The italic line beneath each entry is a short summary of stable facts, not a rating.

We write about things that stay true across seasons: where a hotel is, how the building is organised, what its architecture or programme is trying to achieve, and what kind of stay it suits. We avoid prices, availability, promotional claims and anything that would need a footnote to stand up.

How properties are selected

Properties are chosen because they express their category clearly, not because they are expensive, famous or well reviewed. No entry is paid for, sponsored, or placed in exchange for anything. Nobody can buy a position here, and no hotel has approval over what is written about it.

What we are not

We are not a booking agent, a travel agency or an affiliate. There is no reservation system on this site and no way to transact here. If a property interests you, approach it or a legitimate booking channel directly.

A note on the casino chapter

Casino hotels are covered as hotels. We describe the building, the rooms, the restaurants and the setting, and treat the gaming floor as one facility among several. Nothing on this site offers, promotes or provides access to gambling, and gaming floors are age-restricted wherever they appear.

Corrections

Details change — buildings are refurbished, restaurants close, seasonal properties shift their dates. If something here is out of date or wrong, the contact page explains how to tell us.
